Electric & Induction Stove Repair in Toronto & GTA
One element not heating? Smoothtop cracked or burned out? Induction surface not detecting your pan? Our technicians fix all electric and induction stove problems quickly and safely.
Common Stove Repair Problems We Solve
Our certified technicians diagnose and fix all of the following on electric and induction stoves — usually on the first visit across Toronto and the surrounding GTA.
Electric & Induction Stoves — All Types Covered
From traditional coil burners to premium induction cooktops, we service every electric stove technology.
Electric Coil Stoves
Classic coil-element stoves remain common in Toronto rental units, older homes, and budget kitchens. Their mechanical simplicity makes diagnosis straightforward: burned-out coil elements, faulty surface burner switches, terminal block corrosion, and infinite-switch failures cover most repair calls. Parts are inexpensive and we keep them stocked for first-visit repairs.
Smoothtop Electric Stoves
Glass-ceramic smoothtops are the most common electric stove configuration in modern Toronto kitchens. We service radiant heating element failures, control board issues, surface element switches, and the temperature limiters that protect the glass from overheating. Cracked or chipped cooktop glass replacement is also available for most brands.
Induction Cooktops & Ranges
Induction stoves use electromagnetic coils to heat compatible cookware directly — faster, safer, and more efficient than traditional electric, but the electronics are far more complex. We diagnose induction coil failures, generator board issues, cookware-detection sensor problems, and the control boards that govern premium Bosch, Miele, Wolf, Bertazzoni, and Samsung induction units.

When to Stop Using Your Electric Stove and Call for Repair
While gas stoves get most of the safety attention, electric and induction stoves have their own urgent failure modes that should be treated as repair emergencies. Stop using your stove and call for professional repair immediately if you notice:
- An element that won't turn off — even after you turn the knob to OFF or remove power at the control panel. This indicates a failed switch or relay and creates a fire risk.
- A burning electrical smell from the control panel or behind the stove. This often means a wiring connection is overheating.
- Visible sparking or arcing from a burner or terminal block. Arcing damages insulation and can ignite nearby materials.
- A cracked or shattered smoothtop surface. Beyond the cosmetic issue, cracks expose live electrical elements directly to spills.
- An induction cooktop that gets unusually hot to touch in areas outside the cooking zone. This can indicate a failing cooling fan or generator board.
- A circuit breaker that trips every time you turn on the stove. Never reset and retry repeatedly — there's a short circuit that needs diagnosis.
If you experience any of these issues, unplug the stove or shut off the breaker, and call TrueFix at (647) 874-2990. We carry common elements, switches, control boards, and surface units in our service vans for first-visit repairs.
Repair vs Replace: When Is It Worth Fixing Your Stove?
An honest answer before you spend a cent.
Traditional coil and smoothtop electric ranges typically last 13–17 years. Induction units, with their heavier electronics load, run 10–15 years. Premium brands like Wolf, Bertazzoni, Miele, and Bluestar often clear 20 years with proper service. As with all appliances, follow the 50% rule: if a repair costs less than half of replacement and the unit is under 10 years old, repair is the smarter call.
Repair Makes Sense
- Stove is under 10 years old (or under 20 for premium brands)
- Single element, switch, or surface unit failure
- Repair quote is under 50% of replacement cost
- Premium brand with intact cabinet and cooktop frame
- Door latch, knob shaft, or terminal block replacements — inexpensive, high-impact fixes
Replacement Is the Better Call
- Full control board on an aged unit ($400–$800)
- Induction generator board on a 10+ year-old cooktop ($600–$1,200)
- Glass cooktop replacement on a budget unit ($350–$700)
- Warped cooktop frame or extensive wiring damage
- Multiple failed burners on an aged unit, or obsolete control boards

Electric Stove Maintenance Tips That Prevent Service Calls
Simple habits that keep your elements heating and your control panel working.
For Coil-Element Stoves
- Lift drip pans monthly to clean food debris around terminal connections — buildup causes arcing and shortens element life.
- Inspect element prongs for corrosion; clean lightly with fine sandpaper if dull or coated.
For Smoothtop Electric Stoves
- Clean only with cooktop-safe cleaner — abrasives scratch the glass and create hot spots.
- Wipe up spills immediately after the cooktop cools — sugar and salt can permanently etch the surface.
- Use flat-bottomed cookware only; warped pans cause uneven heating.
For Induction Cooktops
- Lift pans straight up instead of dragging them, to avoid scratches that interfere with sensor detection.
- Verify your cookware is induction-compatible (a magnet will stick to the bottom).
- Keep the cooling vents clear — blocked airflow causes the generator board to throttle or shut off.
